I grew up in Van Alstyne, a small, rural town in Texas. I attended the
local high school and graduated from Austin College Cum Laude
with a major in art and concentrations in writing and religion. I have
always loved art and enjoy drawing, painting, photography, writing,
and music.  It was not until my junior year in college however, that I
realized just how much I enjoy taking pictures. I began
photographing animals and nature because these are two things I
am fascinated with. Photography soon  became an addiction and
like any addiction, it has to be fed more, and more, and more. Thus I
started taking pictures of everything around me until I discovered
portraiture and the work of Hollywood glamour photographers, such
as George Hurrell.

The human body is an incredible piece of art that can be
manipulated, and or depicted in amazing ways through photography.
God created each of us wonderfully and completely different from
each other. Through my portraits I hope to capture the diversity of the
individual and the commonality of humanity. While I do find studio
work rewarding, outdoor shooting provides a more comfortable
setting. I also prefer to utilize natural light and backdrops in order to
create moody photos, whether they are mystic, smooth, harsh, or
glamorous. I also hope to reject cliché portraiture---I find myself
continually breaking the unwritten rules of portrait photography, but
after all, rules are made to broken....well at least when dealing with
art.
